Show ’nuff?
I can’t go into more detail because I’ve been sworn to secrecy but later this week I’ll share with you some exciting news about the future of “Show: The Supper Club,” the live-entertainment extravaganza that went dark after it ran into some hiccups at Code Restaurant in Newport Beach.
Show’s producer Tim Ellis had some disappointing news to share, though. “Show: The Supper Club” is finished at Code.
“We’re going to do club nights on Fridays and Saturdays like we used to do before,” said Code General Manager George Fortier. “We’ ll make the best of it and make do.”
Code has some plans brewing, but I can’t share those either just yet. Fortier said it was too premature to talk about.
“They’re going to move on and do something else there that will work for them,” Ellis said.
“But I just came from a meeting that’s very good news for “Show: The Supper Club,” Ellis added. “I should have this thing to bed by Friday.”
I hope so. As I’ve said, both productions I saw were excellent. Orange County could use more imaginative, visionary performance like this.
Here are some pictures I took of the “Whole Lotta Love” show that focused on ’70s rock.
Singer Michael Olivieri sparked the flames on those swords, literally and figuratively.
No, the picture isn’t sideways. The dancer is. She climbed up that ribbon and gyrated near the ceiling like a gymnast.
I really enjoyed the band. I hope they stay with the “Show” when it continues.
